Harari’s Nexus: how information networks came to rule the world

The book our brand is named after. What hundreds of thousands of years of information networks mean for the future, and for the way we connect people and capital.

Nexus by Yuval Noah Harari

In Nexus: A Brief History of Information Networks from the Stone Age to AI, Yuval Noah Harari argues that the history of humanity is not primarily a history of individuals or nations, but a history of information networks. From the first myths told around a fire, through writing and the printing press, to artificial intelligence: whoever can connect information and people shapes the world.

The strength of a network has never rested on the sheer quantity of information, but on its trustworthiness and structure. Harari shows that societies able to balance truth with order have consistently outlasted those that bet on only one of the two.

“Information is not truth. Information connects, and what it connects matters more than how much of it there is.”

Why a company takes its name from a book

When we were looking for a name, we wanted a word that captured the essence of our work: being the node where capital meets opportunity, experience meets ambition and technology meets trust. Nexus means connection. Harari’s book gave us the language we use to think about it.

Investing is at heart an information problem. Whoever has better information, better structured and more reliable, makes better decisions. That is why we build on due diligence, transparency and a network of vetted partners rather than on hype.

Three lessons we take with us

1. Trust is infrastructure. A network without trust is just noise. That is why we would rather grow more slowly, with partners whose hand we can shake.

2. Technology is a tool, not a goal. AI is changing the rules of the game, which is why we are building NAIO. But a decision about your money should always be made by a person who carries the responsibility.

3. Whoever connects, creates value. The biggest opportunities do not arise in isolation, but at the intersections: of companies and investors, property and capital, people and ideas.
